Candle Moulds |

Latex is a prevulcanised emulsion which will air dry on the surface of a master pattern to form a highly flexible thin rubber skin. Our candle making mould Latex is easy to use, is relatively strong, and will give good definition and accuracy of reproduction. The mould can be made by dipping the master into the Latex or with the addition of the Latex thickener it can be painted over the master. |

You can turn most anything into a candle using the Latex Liquid to make a candle making Mould. The wick can be inserted afterwards by drilling a hole, or you can carefully make a hole in the mould where you want the wick to be. The hole would then be sealed with tack. Do not use Stearin as an additive when using these moulds as it damages the Latex. |

Basic instructions for making Latex Candle MouldsClean and dry the item you wish to duplicate. Set the item on a surface to act as a flange. Brush on a thin layer of liquid latex. Go a couple centimeters past the items edge to create a flange. This first layer will be the mould surface so ensure that there are no air bubbles. Allow this layer to dry for about 30 minutes. Brush on more layers of latex, allowing each layer to dry before applying the next. More layers of latex will yield a stronger mould. Very small items may be sufficient with 4 or 5 layers. Larger items may need 10 or more layers. Add reinforcing material if you are molding a larger item. Loosely woven fabric such as gauze will work well. Wet it with latex and apply to areas that are likely to stretch out of shape when the mould is filled with candle wax. Do not apply reinforcement to areas which will need to stretch to facilitate the candle's release from the candle mould. Allow the Latex candle mould to dry overnight or longer once complete. Peel off the mould. The latex should be very durable and can be peeled right back inside-out. Then just pop it back to it's original shape. Build a support stand for the mould. For most candle's it is best to support the candle mould just under the flange so that it is suspended. Larger candle's may require extra reinforcement such as a box and sand to keep it in the proper shape when filled. Cast your candle using natural Pillar Blend wax or if using paraffin wax add Vybar at 5%. When the candle is set peel off the latex candle mould and drill a hole for the wick. |
